Problem Statement

Many individuals today struggle with managing stress, overcoming limiting beliefs, and maintaining focus, leading to decreased productivity and mental fatigue. Despite the growing need for mental fitness solutions, there is a lack of accessible tools that effectively address these challenges in a comprehensive way.

As they fail to take action or make decisions, they experience reduced productivity, missed deadlines, and unfulfilled goals, ultimately impacting their success both personally and professionally.

Stephen Mayer, a Salt Lake City native, was nurtured in the publishing world by his magazine-running father and developed a fascination for fonts upon receiving a Mac for his family. During his collegiate years, he skipped lectures and gained knowledge about typeface—and life—by working as a designer for his university newspaper.

He also worked independently as a consultant, bridging the gap between typeface creators and users, always championing the needs of both parties. Not only is he the co-founder of the web platforms, Typographica and Fonts In Use, Stephen has also penned a regular column for Print magazine and authored the acclaimed book The Anatomy of Type. In 2017, he became an integral part of the nonprofit library and museum, Letterform Archive, as an Associate Curator and Editorial Director.

Survey Insights

While they had experience with various types of meditation, they were specifically seeking business-oriented meditation techniques to enhance brain energy and focus.

Our target audience expressed a strong interest in business coaching.

A significant number of users indicated a preference for weekly sessions where they could learn business growth strategies while practicing meditation.

Additionally, they were looking for more affordable business coaching options, as current business coaching services are often perceived as expensive.

Competitive Analysis

We conducted an in-depth competitive analysis, evaluating over 18 competing apps to ensure our product stands out. We analyzed UI, UX, core features, and design flow, identifying strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities. This research helped us align with industry standards, leverage emerging trends, and make design decisions that enhance usability and engagement.

User Flows

After completing the competitive analysis, I personally started with the user flows. Our CMO, engineers, & CEO made a user flow before I was involved with the project. And our old onboarding user flow was terrible. It couldn't compete with the market because it didn't consider human behavior at all. So, after I finished my competitive analysis, I took matters into my own hands and came up with a new onboarding user flow.

Old User Flow

In the old user flow, we were forcing users to pay before they could experience the app's value. Research shows this approach often leads to abandonment. Users need to fall in love with your app before making commitments. Consider these improved approaches

New Optimized User Flow

As shown in the user flow below, I optimized it using user behavior principles. Forcing users to sign in before experiencing any value often leads to abandonment. Instead, it’s more effective to let them explore and engage with the product before asking for a commitment.

To further enhance user adoption, I introduced a 7-day trial with full premium access—no credit card required. This allows users to experience the product’s full value before making a decision. By giving them the opportunity to enjoy the app without barriers, we create a stronger connection and increase the likelihood of long-term retention.

Wireframes

After an extensive and meticulous process and countless brainstorming sessions with the CEO, CTO, PR, and Dev teams, deep research, and strategic discussions. We finally reached a well-defined direction. With clarity and alignment across all stakeholders, we transitioned into the wireframing phase, transforming our insights and ideas into a structured foundation for the product’s design and user experience.

Design Explorations

After conducting extensive user research and creating wireframes, we began our design explorations and iterations. We designed hundreds of screens and dedicated countless hours to finding the best possible design—one that not only resonates with users but also represents our business effectively.
